TCC Compost Hub

The TCC Compost Hub invites all interested Topangans to participate in the community composting bin. A Composting Hub is an effective way to help the community reduce waste and retain the resulting compost to green community gardens. Composting basic kitchen organics such as apple cores, eggshells and coffee grinds can divert up to 40% of our waste stream from ending up in the landfill.

The Compost Hub WILL ACCEPT:

  • Fruits and Vegetables (make sure to remove stickers first),
  • Coffee Grounds and Filters,
  • Eggshells,
  • Shredded Newspapers,
  • Old Flowers.

The Compost Hub WILL NOT ACCEPT:

  • Meat and Dairy Scraps,
  • Cat Litter and Pet Feces,
  • Fats or Greasy Foods,
  • Bioplastics.

Within a matter of weeks, the Compost Hub will be producing rich, earthy topsoil that we are dubbing “Topanga Gold.” This community resource is run and maintained by those who use it. With proper composting practices, the compost hub can be a home to enrich the soil and produce healthy plants and produce.

The Compost Hub will be open to members, Monday-Sunday, between 9:00 and dusk. Please check the calendar for closures due to rental and other activities before coming.
